The romantic
Charlotte’s continues to be a favorite habitué for notable celebrities and locals who enjoy the privacy
and charm of this intimate restaurant.
Originally comprised of four cottages surrouding a trellis-covered
patio, this season Charlotte’s adds the new Salon
Rouge, a larger dining room directly accessible from historic
La Plaza’s parking area. Deep refd walls are set off
by gilt mirrors and antique tables with windows swathed
in sunny yellow silk – perfect for sipping champagne
and devouring decadent desserts, or entertaining up to 45
guests.
The other three delightful dining rooms,
each with a fireplace and named for owner Charlotte Solomon’s
grandchildren, are eclectically decorated with antiques,
mixed-and-matched chairs, china, glass and silverware.
The fourth bungalow is the kitchen.
The William Room is painted fatigue green with magenta accents.
Jaden’s room is apple green and peach and Alyssa’s
is dutch blue and white, patterned after favorite china. |

All are tied together with gilt-framed artwork and
mirrors, plants, soft sconce lighting and French doors that open
to the shaded patio.
Flower-laden bougainvillea and green shuters with palm tree and
star cutouts contrast rustic adobe walls.
Lunch includes soups, salads, sandwiches, juicy hamburgers, Shrimp
Pasta and others entrées. Lunchtime slowly melts into late
afternoons where teatime may be enjoyed by reservations only. Light
fare such as cheese boards, fresh fruit platters and soups are available
late afternoons and late evening. Dinner, then, is merely a whisper
of linen, link of wine glasses and the soft stains of jazz before
sumptuous fragrances from the kitchen signal that repasts of soups,
pastas, seafood and more are in the works.
Open daily during the season, Charlotte’s serves lunch from
11 a.m. to 3 p.m., afternoon tea from 2-4 p.m. by reservation only
and dinner from 5 to 10 p.m. Lunch an dinner reservations are recommended.
